The call for school choice advocacy from home is being heard by advocates across the state and they are responding.
Last week CEAM notified people in our citizen action network of a new opportunity to advocate from home when we sent an email about “Cards with a Purpose.” Advocates, schools and others were invited to request CEAM card kits that include blank cards to decorate, envelopes with stamps, and the addresses of legislators, along with stickers, ideas for messages, and more. Dozens of advocates and schools have already requested their kits here.
In St. Louis and Kansas City, advocates gathered with the CEAM Team to work on their cards together. While parents wrote their messages, kids helped color and customize each card into a mini work of art.
About the project, CEAM Director of Outreach Cici Tompkins said, “There are so many ways to advocate and sometimes people get focused on face to face advocacy, but there are a lot of ways people can engage their legislators from home or in the community. The cards being made and sent will remind legislators of the meaningful difference school choice has made in the lives of so many children. These highly personalized cards will include photos of the families and are likely to have a long shelf life around a legislator’s office.”
There is still time to participate in the Cards with a Purpose project. Click here to order your kit.
