Are you happy with the quality of your child’s school?
Do you feel like your child’s school provides enough arts, or STEM, or Advanced Placement programs?
Does your school give your child enough opportunities to learn a different language at a young age?
If you answered “no” to any of those questions, then imagine what your child’s future could be like if you had more power over where they went to school.
Some parents in Missouri, those who live in St. Louis City or Kansas City, already know because they have the right to send their children to a charter school.
“There is so much more that charter schools are offering,” said Teresa Boyd, whose children are attending Gateway Science Academy. “The education my children are getting is so much different than what I am hearing from friends at public school. It is more of a community. It is about how the staff and teachers embrace our kids.”
Robynn Ragland, who sends her children to the St. Louis Chinese Language Immersion School, said having access to those options had changed her children’s lives.
“I was absolutely thrilled,” she said, noting that they actually moved to have access to the school. “It is absolutely phenomenal to be able to offer my child this education that is so unique and inspiring.”
“We found a school that would challenge our daughter academically and that was very important for us,” agrees Josh Wiese, who sends his daughter to Gateway Science Academy. “Being able to have a variety of choices is really paramount because we want what is best for our children. The ability to send your kid whereever you want at no cost is huge.”
Unfortunately, under current laws, parents in other areas of Missouri do not have access to the same school options as those living in St Louis and Kansas City.
Imagine what education would look like if they did. Imagine if you could send your child to a school that is focused on art based education, or one that has an immersive language environment.
Imagine if you could send your child to a school that is focused on art based education, or one that has an immersive language environment.
Imagine if you could send your child to a school that highlights science or engineering or computer programing.
Imagine if you just had the choice to send your child to a better performing school.
