Reimagining Education

Join the CEAM Team in fighting for better education in Missouri

The CEAM Team is focused on improving Missouri’s K-12 education system by advancing education policies and innovation that ensure all families have the right to choose the education they determine is best for their children.

CEAM helps parents take action at their schools, in their districts and at the state legislature. We are growing a statewide coalition to fight for more access to high-quality schools, more accountability for student achievement, and more high-quality teachers in every classroom.

For too many of our state’s most vulnerable children, the promise of a quality education is unfulfilled by centuries-old education model that uses a one-size-fits-all approach to teach children based on where they live and how old they are.

Missouri needs a new vision for educating our youth, one that reimagines an education delivery system that ensures that every child has access to high quality, personalized learning.

This journey requires all Missourians, especially parents and employers, to make education a top-priority. We need a statewide movement of parents, employers, civic leaders and elected officials.

The time for expanding school choice is now!

Because they operate outside of a traditional school district, charter schools are able to adjust curriculum to meet students’ needs and give teachers the ability to try new methods to help students learn. With that flexibility to develop personalized teaching practices, student learning and results improve helping underserved students achieve at high levels.

With an ESA, families are no longer limited to the offerings of their assigned neighborhood schools. Instead, they have the freedom to customize the best learning environment for their child based on their needs.

Families in Missouri do not currently have access to this innovative way to help families access the schools and resources that are the best fit for their children, but several legislators are working to change this.

The proposed legislation would allow families to apply for a scholarship o to help the family seek a variety of other educational opportunities including homeschooling, private schools or virtual education.

Virtual education offers families the chance to get their education from the comfort of their home or even through thier phone anywhere in the world.

Virtual schools allow students to learn at their own pace, advancing through subject matter as quickly or a slowly as their competency over the subject matter allows.

Virtual education can provide students in rural or urban areas access to more unique and higher level courses than those offered through their home districts.

Our trained parent advocates love the skills we help them develop to fight for their children’s futures:
“I now feel empowered to advocate for charter schools. The difference this has made in my life is amazing. I definitely appreciate CEAM for educating me on the issues, very helpful in what to say on behalf of charter schools, and it was a pleasant experience. Keep up the good work. Fighting the good fight.”
“I really enjoyed the CEAM parents meetings and look forward to many more. The meetings were very educational and vital and they have really given me a better outlook and understanding of the charter school system and why I choose to send my child to a charter school.”
“The Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri is a great organization to involve parents who have had children in failing districts. The charter school expansion project is definitely needed. The state school not control families educational choices.”
“I have learned so much from the CEAM meetings on the right and wrong way to advocate for my child’s education. I also have a lot of information on ways to connect with my representatives.”
